Get in the Rhythm!
This year, Midland Memorial Hospital is building on the success of last year's Walk for Hearts event - adding a run that winds through neighborhoods and promotes heart health.
Who are we?
Dr. Joseph Suckarieh performed countless cardiothoracic surgeries at Midland Memorial Hospital Heart Institute for over 20 years in Midland, TX. He passed away suddenly in 2009. Many patients in the Permian Basin experienced his passion for his profession. Dr. Suckarieh strongly believed in giving back to the community. Today, we honor his name by holding an annual Walk for Hearts. This year we are expanding the event to include a chip-timed 5K event.
Who does this benefit?
The funds raised from this event benefit patients of Midland Memorial Hospital. Recently, we purchased scales for the heart failure patients. This purchase allows patients to monitor their disease at home reducing recurrent hospital admissions.
Registration is from 8:00 a.m. - 8:45 a.m. the day of the event. Runners can register through Texasgotime.com to take advantage of chip timers. The cost is $25 until October 31st and $30 the day of the event. Long sleeve shirts are available for $20. Proceeds benefit the Dr. Suckarieh Memorial Fund.
