Acute Care of the Elderly (ACE) Unit
Midland Memorial Hospital has an eight bed ACE unit dedicated to caring for patients 80 years and above.
It is an evidence-based model designed to prevent patients from experiencing functional decline during hospitalization. Our goal is to minimize stress from hospitalization and help patients return as quickly as possible to the level of independence and activity that they enjoyed before their illness. We apply specific interventions to preserve or restore physical and mental functioning. Interventions often include walking, physical therapy, nutritional counseling, medication review and more. The staff on the ACE unit have specialized training in geriatric nursing.
