Job Description

The Respiratory Care Technicians (RT Techs) primary responsibilities are to provide assistance and support to the Respiratory Therapists by providing proper oxygen checks, medication administration, and other modalities.  These staff members must be a member, in good standing, of an accredited respiratory care program.  These staff members will not be allowed to provide an initial assessment of any kind nor be allowed to perform any type of invasive procedure associated with respiratory care including but not limited to:  ABG puncture, tracheostomy care, naso-tracheal (NT), artificial airway suctioning, ventilator management.  When on duty, these staff members will be directly assigned to a licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) who will ultimately be responsible for the RT Techs performance of duties.   



·         Provides direct support for the assigned RCP

·         Performs duties as assigned but not in violation of job limitations

·         Customer focus on satisfaction and safety

·         Maintains a positive attitude even in light of extraordinary circumstances that may occur


·         High school graduate or equivalent

·          Student in good standing of an accredited Respiratory Care Program

·          Must be enrolled in the 2nd year of said two year program
